Overmolding

Overmolding is used to manufacture items made of two materials of different kinds, at the same time, on the same press and in the same mold.
It consists of injecting a thermoplastic material over a non-thermoplastic component which could be, for example, metal.
The components that we inject must be insertable into an injection mold. They must withstand the heat of the polymer injected.

Raw materials :

In principle, all thermoplastic polymers are compatible.

Where used :

The large-scale or very large-scale manufacture of goods in a broad range of sectors.
It involves assembling two components of different types with a good seal.
